The woman who died in the waiting room

In the Newsweek, the writer stated that at one of Brooklyn Largest Psychiatric Hospital, Esmin Green waited in vain to be treated for her illness. This happened while professionals as well as security cameras were available  No one paid any attention to the patient. This is the trouble with almost all the medical institutions nationwide. The reason for this is that either the patient don't have medical coverage or not able to pay the high cost. Many of these illness could be treated with simple medication or concelling but even this would be at a cost they cannot afford.

The cost of medication or hospitalisation is so expensive, that most people cann't afford it, so they suffer. Most people to-day, need medical to pay for their treatments. Many patient, who suffer from illness that if discovered early can be cured, are unable to, because either they are uninsured or the treatments are too expensive. There are alo the negligence of the professionals in not recognising the seriousness of the patient's illness.

In to-day's highly and expensive medical institutions, many patients who cann't pay for their treatment or medications are left to suffer. In any country, taking care of sick patients, should not be based on whether the patient could afford the treatment or medications, dut helping that patient get whatever is required of that institution to help them. In the case of the article, had the professionals paid a little more attention to the patient, it might have saved her.

Most people, because of being illegal in a country, are not able to obtain the necessary insurance to cover their medical costs. In the medical field, professional have been trained to do their jobs irrespective of cost, but that is not so. Many professionals look at the financial rewards rather than professional oath and that is to save lives at any cost.

Many patients simply neglect themselves where sickness is concerned. They would rather not go for medical help, because of the cost. They would use other illogical remedies until it becomes too late. Eventually, when they do seek medical help, the illness becomes too advance, thus becomes fatal,or they recover. There are also overcrowdedness in the wards. Most professionals have to do more with less help.

One other fact is, the negligence on the path of medical professionals. Too many time, a lot of fatality happens not because of the medical help rendered, but the after care they receive. We all realise that the medical industry is demanding and complex, but we must also be commited to it. We must not allow the situation to get out of control, but to be in control of the situation at all times.

In conclusion, situation like what has been describe in the article could have been avoided. Hospital needs to distinguished between what illness should be given priority and what should not. More attention should be paid to patient, so as not to have a repitition of the incident. The medical professionals ought to be considerate and not to put financial rewards above what they swore to do, and the care they are supposed to provide.
