Plato' the allegory of the cave'(The Republic,Book V11)
Let me show the real and the unreal world. Human beings held captive in underground caves with the only light they can see,is the light coming from the the mouth of the cave. The light was reflecting along the wall of the walls of the caves. Chained together from childhood , from legs to neck, all they could see was, what is seen on the wall of the cave.
You have shown me various materials, but Icould only recognized them by the shadow that I see on the walls. If someone is to speak while walking by, they could not recognised the speaker because of the way they were bound together. When freedom came to one of the prisoner, he was forced to look at the light. After experiencing the pain, he then went to inform the other prisoners what to expect. They felt comfortable living the way they are , in preferance to the world of reality.
